Im not sure if this is the correct section of the forum. I have a 11inch male sulcata about 3 years old.He is 66% possible het albino. I am willing to offer him up for adoption. HE is super healthy and is happy where he is at now. I would just like to have the space foe my growing torts. I dont want anything for him except that he gets a good home. He's 11inches and I think too heavy to ship so you would have to pick him up in Vero Beach Florida. If you are interested please email me at theatomicdog1@ comcast.net. If this is in the wrong forum Please let me know and Ill move it to the proper place. Im including a pic

Wrong email its [email protected] My mistake
This is probably the best place to post this. But I think you need a warning message from some of the more active and og memebers @wellington .
Thanks Ryan, I thought according to forum rules that I must at least have 100 posts to post in this section.

You are correct on the rules. 100 post to sell, rehoming for free is to be in adoptions.
So you are good.
I believe the warning is referring to being very careful of new members that only join to answer free tortoise threads. Not all but a lot of them only want free tortoises so they can resell them and make money. So ask a lot of questions and ask for pictures of where they plan on housing him.
Good luck.

Thanks for the warning. I kinda figured that. I have refused some for that reason. This is a tough spot to be in. I lost a business partner and a half acre of land . I had to take the torts couldn't let the family bear the burden. I also ended up with six two year olds which I have advertised.I have had numerous inquires but after explain how much room a sulcata needs ( 2500 sq ft minimum) with visual barriers and a large heated nitebox along with proper diet and the longevity of a sulcata my buyers have shy away. Im not in this for the buisseness end. It awful how much misinformation is out there. Even in vets and small zoos. Four years ago I took in a small sulcata who wasn't eating .I took it to an exotic vet who tried oral amoxicillin .I now know thats not the way to go and injections are. I witness the long drawn out death and it's sickening. I would rather see a tort euthanized before being tortured.I am very grateful to the folks on this forum who have answered all my questions. I dont think the reptile sellers really take the time to cover what exactly needs a sulcata has . And when you are not buying they dont have the time to help you Im sure some do . But thanks again if I dont rehome this guy to a proper home hell get the proper care at least until I die

Just a word of caution...my very own opinion, you have too many Sulcata, it's not good for them or you...if you need to ship, 11 inches is small, how much does it weigh? If you need this I thought I'd post it...I used shipyourreptiles.com...they do everything for you, they send you the box and needed stuff for the shipping. I used them and shipped a RF...it was so easy. Anyway, there's some help if you need it...

Thomas if you can give another sulcata a proper home I have some two year old 4 and five inches . I can rehome one to you . You pay shipping and Im insisting on proper care
Sorry. I cant. I am buying some sulcatas from a friend down here and I cannot spare any room for more small ones. We have a pen for a big one but it has to many escape holes for ones that are small.

Thanks I kinda thought 11 inches is too big to ship. All the sulcata breeders I see are shipping hatchlings . And your opinion is correct I have too many. but sometimes your best intention plans do not work out because unforeseen circumstances. Im doing my best to find good homes for everyone I sell or rehome

I seriously understand! How much does that 11 incher weigh? That's what is important, not the length. Shipping is very easy...so in my opinion you can rehome for free, only the receiving person pays for shipping...It is not as expensive as you think. As an example...I want one of your Sulcata...so I pay the shipping...you rehome for free. That's fair...good luck

have you used them for shipping?
No. If you look up something like. "How much does it cost to ship something that weighs 50 pounds' Then I believe. it will come up with a list of stuff. But to get the exact price you would need to know the exact weight and the zip codes I just took a rounded number. It would be around. $350 to ship a tortoise that is 50 pounds. For FEDEX I dont know about Shipyourreptile.
was this thru FedEX or shipyourreptiles?,shipyourreptiles are cheaper than FedEx but to get a price you need both zip codes...:)
I looked up FEDEX

Depends on weight. I shipped a large leopard to Texas using a dog crate with Delta Dash. I can't remember her weight but likely 25-30 pounds.

Hey...I love Sulcata, have had more than one...I was saying you have too many Sulcata, is like telling the guy who has 2 Corvettes...that's too many so I want one...l just trying for a joke. Please don't talk to FedEx about shipping if you ever need to ship, and it really is a good option to off load some animals so if you do ever need to ship......shipyourreptiles.com...they take care of it all, boxes, etc...

Maggie I looked into shipyour reptiles.com They were very helpful and it looks like I am going to be able to ship this guy. He's only 10lbs I have a person who knows sulcatas and their requirements who is very interested in him. Thanks again
