I already on that. Today sometime I was going to have my grand daughter take some really good pictures of Sandy from every direction.

Looking good! Also it appears that Sandy is most likely a male (in case that subject hasn't been discussed previously).

You are correct!

A few months ago Sandy started to flash a little during his soaks and now oh boy he flashes big time. Only during his soaks as far as I can tell.

Takes a while until he stops flashing after his soak and I have to wait until he is done before I put him in his enclosure because I do not want him to get hurt.

• Enclosure is enclosed so humidity is always higher than room.
• Never able to get humidity to 80 percent except for the hide box.
• Air space of enclosure is 48" wide x48" high x72" long.
• When I do open up enclosure to check on Sandy I do feel a wave of hot humid air.

Even though I love you, I don't agree with you here. David loves this tortoise and if he wants to tag a bunch of people and type all that out, what is the harm? We are all friends here and he's talking to and addressing his forum friends. If it bothers you, just ignore it. If this is how David enjoys the forum I don't know why anyone would have a problem with it. I vote we let the man use the forum however he wants, and the way he is doing it doesn't bother me at all.

Sandy is a very lucky little chap, and looks really well - he is obviously having a very happy life with you !

Since I seem to be the only one that dislikes seeing a pile of distracting names before the comment, I apologize for saying something. It is more important that you feel comfortable in the Forum so your can get the most from it. Sorry, my bad.

This morning I found two pill bugs on Sandy's front legs. I assume they where eating ( Mazuri Original 5M21 Tortoise Food ) from the day before which was on his legs still.

I did not notice anything like bite marks on his legs.

I was just wondering if I should soak him at night after I feed him ( Mazuri Original 5M21 Tortoise Food ) or ( Zoo Med Natural Grassland Tortoise Food ) or if no harm would happen to him.

I think you need to relax more and enjoy your shelled friend. Don't forget where they live when we don't have them, the wild, with dirt, bugs of all kinds, mud, etc. You are being way too overly concerned about a lot of nothing. Just enjoy your friend.
If you want to soak him after he eats mazuri do so. You can also just wipe it off or leave it. Either or is fine

Don't worry about pill bugs or springtails - they won't harm your tortoise and do not disturb him (unless there are thousands but it's a different story).

So sorry to bother you but I found something which I am not sure if I caused or if it is normal.

Soaking Sandy this morning. I can see right thru parts of his shell. Seems to be happening where the top and bottom shell does not meet. I noticed that the parts of his shell circled is actually clear. Very hard but clear.

Maybe translucent would be a more acuate word. Has anyone seen this before?

I believe the translucent parts are new growth that will get opaque over time with UVB exposure.

Zola has similar areas at the edge of his shell near his head -he is 24, but is still growing ! I think it is actually a good sign of progress - nothing to worry about.
