I remember back in the late 80s the weatherman (Michael Fish) replied to rumours that a hurricane was on its way by saying that no there definitely wasn't.
The next day after hundreds of trees and rooves were lost along with all sorts of other damage all over the UK he had to eat his words!

I remember watching that forecast and thinking there's going to be a massive storm because the warm fronts and the cold fronts were coming together and according to my Geography teacher that shows an incoming storm.

I was living in central London then, and a really huge tree blew down in the garden of the ground floor flat - luckily, I was up on the top floor, so it didn't affect me( apart from more light getting in through my windows). The owners of that flat gave me a large slice of wood from it, which I hoped to make into a table one day, but never did !

That sounds like me too much I can't resist saving beautiful wood for a project especially something like that. And dried wood to boot is irresistible.

"My" dog finally came back after 3 weeks of disappearance. I was worried about him. It's a stray dog that was severely abused by people. He doesn't let me pet him but he takes food from my hands. I still have a hope that one day he will decide to stay in a house. I will feel better knowing he is safe.
