Sam,

Thanks for spending time and patient for newbie [SMILING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]. I'm planning to get another terrarium just for the rad, do u have any idea on the design that suitable for me to put indoor?

I have a 6 feet table which I put on it. At the moment I have a 2 feet terrarium , probably will get a 4 feet to put side by side . Will move them to my back garden in the near future.

When is ur next batch of rads available, I'm planning to get a hatching and watch him grow day by day. Especially see the changes of the pattern .

He lost 30g since he come to my house, he don't like the Mazuri , sudo , and those dry hay I mixed it for him. He ate 2 whole hibiscus yesterdAy and few cuts of the spineless cactus.....he likes fresh food so much especially when I put him in the garden. He graze those cow grass hungrily for 30 minutes. [SMILING FACE WITH OPEN MOUTH AND COLD SWEAT]

Since he had been eating grass for 2 years, I think I will just continue giving him grass and some snack once a week.

Anything do I need to put attention on for this rads?

Best regards

Jonathan Chung

Nice to know you are here too !

He is from the 2011/12 season .

Try crushing the mazuri pellets or soak before feeding - this guy was spoilt on fresh grass ( lawn ) and other green !!

Cactus - prickly pear pads ( spineless variety ) are good once a week

Dandelion .......... etc are good for feeding too .

I seldom feed him mazuri as not cheap to feed a whole horde of them .

He has his last worming done after Christmas . ( worming is important if they are allowed to roamed outdoor even not that often )

P/s you must be wondering how I know this guy from me - the 2 orange dot ( nail polish ) and the black marking 1 on his back !!

Cheers
Sam

One other thing pls do not mix with other sp for now - thought you told my friend about quarantine for a while before introducing to your other pet ?

But in picture I see a sulcata in the same enclosure with the R ?

And many in this forum do not encourage mixing different sp in same enclosure !!

Cheers

Sam,

My new terrarium is on it's way. Will separate the rad when it arrive. The rad doesn't seems to like eating the dry hay nor the hay powder that I mixed with the Mazuri . I need to spread the pallets on the hibiscus leaf just like spreading jam on bread and need to hand feed.

Besides cactus, did u feed ur torts with fresh vegetable? Cause I hardly feed vegetable to my sulcata, wondering what type of food rad prefer more besides my lawn's cow grass.

Just a tip , new food item should be introduced gradually !!

And on the separation part ( you mention new enclosure for the 2 ) the initial contact for even a few days will be deadly enough if either one of them has infectious pathogen !!

But from the look of your sulcata , it look local bred ( depending on who and where you buy it from could be from me as well )
Since CB , chances of it having nasty stuff is greatly reduced unlike WC specimen!!

Cheers

I bought it from a pet shop in inanam. Mind asking on how to deworm? Is that a schedule practice or only do it when there is worm sighted?

Read from the net, need to bring sample of the discharge to vet to do some test. As far as I know there is no vet that have experience treating tortoise in Sabah . Perhaps maybe u can become tortoise's doctor... :)

I'm planting mulberry tree, but gonna take a while for it to grow, meanwhile I'm just getting some hibiscus flower and leaves as snacks mixing with the Mazuri and sudo pallets . Every night I will feed them a small cut of the spineless cactus. They like it so much

You sure have some nice looking Rads. I think you really did the right thig to separate them. Good for you. Soon you will be thinking what to do when your Sulcata grow big. They do grow fast......really fast.

They have the markings here and there all over and markings varies in size !!

Don't worry so much about such small stuff unless it start to go off food or poo worms ......
