New to the Sulcata, but I have Bearded Dragons so not totally new to reptiles. I have had my new little guy(Shellmer) for about 3 weeks now and I can not seem to get his humidity right. We live in Southern Nv so we have very hot and dry weather. I have him on coconut coir inside and his basking temps at 95-100 I have a reptisun UVB 10.0 on him. I have been looking into devices for his enclosure but I want to be sure I do the right thing and not make it too damp for him. Any suggestions?

You posted while I was.
Cover the top with foil. That will help bring humidity up. And keep it up.

You want to shoot for 70 or 80% humidity. Pour warmish water over the substrate...then keep it damp...

cover the top and you'd be amazed how simple it is to keep humidity i haven't had to mist or put water in my substrate since making a closed chamber

Hello and welcome. Here is how to easily maintain humidity wherever you want it:

If your 10.0 is a coil type bulb, I would turn it off right away and return it. Those can damage reptile eyes. If you can get him out for sunshine a few times a week in a nice large safe outdoor enclosure, you won't even need indoor UV.

I hope these threads give you lots of food for thought and you come back with lots of questions. :)

I agree, cover the top and you won't have a problem keeping in the humidity. Also Do whatever "Tom" says.
