My Tortoise enclosure is being taken over by ants. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Need to know about anything that kills ants but are safe for the tortoise. Thanks in advance.

Assuming your ants don't have a reputation for anything worse than an itchy nip they won't harm your tort.

However food grade diatomaceous earth is the way to control them without harming your tort.

I bought 1lb of food grade DE off Amazon for $20. It came with a mini duster (dispenses DE in fine puff instead of hand-thrown clumps). It works great without harm to you and pets. It may take a day or two (or three) to see a difference. Don't use pool DE (even if it's WAY cheaper) as it turns into silica after high-heat treatment.

I sent my friend to hone depot for some Diatomaceous but I'm not sure if it's food grade. If it's not food grade will it harm my tortoises

If they bother you that much, boiling water kills them (remove your tort when pouring it!)

I wouldn't use anything but the FOOD GRADE where my torts could get to it... you could put it around the outside of the enclosure though. I beleive Hoe Depot only sells the food grade on line.

I had the same problem once. Use food grade only! You don't want to take the risk of harming your tort. Look for St. Gabriel's organics it cost me $14 and it is a big bag.
