My wife just gave me my early present. Supposed to be a giant sounth African leopard tortoise from underground reptiles. I'll post pics as as soon as I can. Love this little guy already.

Love the pattern of the carapace. Doesn't look the least bit shy in the pics.

I would like to point out that your tort still has his egg tooth. I believe they loose those around 6 weeks? Very young. Very cute.
Have you read the care sheets in the leopard Tortoise section of the forum?

Yes I have but I'll be sure to go over it again. He is pretty outgoing already. And if I'm not mistaken he has a split scute correct.

Yes, he has an extra costal scute on the right side which makes the central scutes look abnormal. I love abnormal scute tortoises, it gives them character, and you can usually get them cheaper.

On another note, I wish my wife would give me a tortoise for Christmas/ birthday/ or anniversary. Lucky!

Will do. Is there any way to tell if he's actually a giant. I think I remember Tom saying that not many breed the giant leopards

I love them to. Very unique lol. Where is the best place to by the scales everyone uses to weigh their babys? I'm needing to get one so I can start trying my tortoises weight.

The double/multiple dots on the scutes and freckled skin have him looking very PP. I also really like his scute pattern. He's very unique. Your wife did well. Merry Christmas.
