Can I feed a wilted hibiscus to my tortoise or just fresh?

Hey all, I bought a hibiscus plant with the intention to feed my tortoise the blooms, but the flower is very pretty so I want to keep it for as long as possible. Will there be any ill effect if I feed it to my tortoise when it starts showing signs of wilt. I’m not sure yet how long my plant will hold blooms and want to make sure I can feed him a slightly wilted one just as well as I can a freshly opened bloom. Also pictures to show off!

Feeding wilted flowers is fine, but if that plant was bought at a store, it will contain toxic systemic pesticides that will last for several months after replanting in "clean" soil.
The plant was bought at a local plant nursery, but I can go there and ask what pesticides the use if any.

They will likely tell you they don't use any, and that is probably true. It's the commercial growers that they buy from that have to do this. Often, I have found, the retailers don't even know about it. Just not something that has ever come up. They don't intend for the decorative plants they sell to be eaten, so why would it? All decorative plants in this country are grown with these toxic systemic pesticides. Its to protect the agriculture industry.

I have been feeding my torts Hibiscus flowers for years and I wait for the flower to wilt then pick and toss on the grass or in the pens for them to eat. Never a problem, they love them.

Hmm, if only my Hermann's Trixie was interested in Hibiscus flowers...
Dont fret, some of mine ignore it as well while others chow it down. Its a preference thing. I remember first time bringing home huge hibiscus with gorgeous blooms, and NONE of the 6 little ones wanted any part of it! Big guys sniffed it in. Now it depends on the mood, petal by petal he loves me..., he loves me not... lol

Love the photos! What type of hibiscus is that? And to answer your question, enjoy the blooms, and when its done feed it. Turtles dont care what condition it is, as long its edible.
