2 Females found in 2 days!

Yesterday and today.... are the 2nd and 3rd females that I have found in our yard in 2 weeks. I'm telling you guys, there is something special about this place!

I separated Matt and let them fill up on some various mix off a clean plate. They ate side by side and acted like they never saw worms,slugs & mealworms before. Both of them feel light but well hydrated. They both dug in around 5 so i guess the girls aren't too stressed. They are great together...none of that male aggression. LOL pretty cool though

Tomorrow they go back in the yard.....

So the girls went back to the wild day before yesterday then yesterday the little girl came back! I brought her inside and soaked and fed her before putting her back. I think she's coming for the free meals since she is light for this time of year. She's also been "through some things" as her nose is 1 large single hole, her shell is deformed and shows evidence of attack by something. She's very personable for a wild gal for all that!

I figure that if she keeps showing up, I'll keep feeding her. At least till her weight is better.

the look of that turtles shell causes me to think it may have been captive for a large portion of it's life.... the abnormalities look like husbandry issues, not natural causes... what appears to be depressed scutes is something that i think happens at a real young age...... i've not seen a wild eastern box turtle with those depressed scutes, or a shell in this kind of condition..... i've seen lots of chewed up ones and i can't recall seeing a chewed up one that didn't involve the marginals, doesn't look like it was hit by a car, maybe a fire, i've never seen one burned in a fire... the looks of that turtle imo is a reason to not put them around matt.....

Thanks Mark as i really didn't quite know what to make of the deformed shell. I was wondering if she was one of those really scared turtles that never leaves deep cover and barely subsists. Your possible explanation makes more sense. She visited Matt only long enough to see it wasn't a good move so she can come and go as she chooses. She sure isn't afraid to chow right down when food is presented!
