My lovey turtles have been moved from their outdoor pen to various plastic tubs and swimming pools while me and the SO finish school and find a house with a yard. I have done everything to make them as happy as possibly knowing that they will be sacrificing most of their space during this time. I take them outside, provide daily misting and washing, fresh water and food, and live plants for cover. So why is this titled check your substrate? These are the reasons why.
-uneaten food was being buried causing flies
-I placed the large dinner plate on the ground only for it to be flipped as a hungry turtle emerged from underneath.
-my females have been a little cramped for space but apparently this hasn’t stopped them from laying eggs. I’ve found 7 good eggs + egg shells I was too slow to find in all my females tubs. Sneaky girls buried it UNDER the plants.
