Hello,

I am thinking getting another Tortoise , I have had a Russian Tortoise for almost five years now. I might get another Russian or I might get a Eastern Hermanns Tortoise.

I realize their care are very similar. Going through through thread and care sheets i just can point the difference. Is it the humidity cause they both seem similar or is it Temperature they like? I plan to get an adult for either one so any info would be helpful.

I agree with Fluffy. People do tend to keep Russian tortoises drier and less hydrated because of misunderstood assumptions of how they live in the wild, but this leads to dead Russian tortoises with bladder stones, more than is typically seen with hermanni. All tortoise species need at least moderate humidity and all tortoise needs good hydration.

Also, I am certain you already know this, but for the benefit of anyone silently reading along, they would need to be housed separately. Species should never be mixed, and tortoises should never be kept in pairs. Had to say it... :)
