    It would be best to clarify details like this in your initial post. There is lots of folks that ask this question because they just think their tort needs a vacation. To that end keep the tort as comfortable as you can on your trip. And good luck with the move.

    They do have the capability to swim they just are not naturally aquatic. It's possible they were above water before you found them.

    It would be best to just replace it with orchid bark of the fir tree type or with reptibark. I have not had any mold issues with my enclosure since I put the reptibark in it. Months ago.

    Indeed! And I don't forsee a rise of the planet of the tortoises situation happening in our life time. As long as we keep them away from the toxic ooze we should be safe as well.
