New red foot need help with enclosure

You'll want to dry that up. The bark should just be wet but not running water off of it.

New red foot need help with enclosure

Keep us updated when you get the new temp gauge. Also did you order a temp gun? That will give you good spot check temps. The substrate is not swimming in water on the bottom of the enclosure is it? That will work against you if it is. I found that out the hard way myself.

Beak care & Winter slow down?

The redfoot beak should be pretty short. I don't believe it's hard to do. If you would feel more comfortable with taking it to the vet the first time and getting an eye on how they do it you could. Proper maintaining of it after that could be done with a file or nail clippers. That one is...

Beak care & Winter slow down?

I have not had to trim a beak yet. My redfoot is not that old. As far as the food dish. Something like a rock surface, that would allow them to scrap their beak on while eating

Beak care & Winter slow down?

It definitely needs trimmed. You should also switch the food dish to a harder surface that can help keep that beak in check. Don't chop the food up so much make them work at it a little. These things help with keeping the beak a smaller size.

    Redfoot hatchling- all okay?

In close quarters I don't think that's true. Redfoots are little A-holes just like the rest of the tort nation when it comes to personal space. All tortoises do tend to get along when there's more then 2 of them. But they don't need a friend to talk with.

    Redfoot hatchling- all okay?

I can't answer any of the breeder questions. To the best of my knowledge I don't think reptiles of any Species care for a Vist from there offspring. In most cases they try to kill or eat them.

general health of a 5 month old redfoot tortoise

65 watt flood light bulb or a 5500K to 6500K led flood light bulb for daytime light. A zoo med T5 10% or Arcadia T5 12% for UVB roughly 12-14" away from the tortoise shell. But if you are taking it out for natural sunlight between the hours of roughly 12pm to 4pm the UVB light is not necessary...

    Red Foot Growth

Oh! Yes you have to gently slide the front of his shell up against a solid flat object with his head in his shell the mark the spot at the back of the shell then return the tort to his condo. Then measure that distance. Do you have a scale that reads grams so you can weigh the tortoise?

    Red Foot Growth

Also 6" is about right size for that age. He should be big enough to use the Donoghue Ratio to make sure he's on the right track.

    Red Foot Growth

I would stop the deli meat and the peanut butter. Give him boiled plain chicken or Mazuri pellets, mealworms or super worms. Give him animal protein once a week. Also I recommend feeding him every day.

I use the wyze pan V3 camera. It was cheap and works great you can use the free plan and a memory card or you can pay for a monthly subscription. New red foot need help with enclosure

What is the inside temperature of the mini green house? You have to account for the larger area. The tank may be getting to temp but the humidity will not come up if the mini green house is not warm enough as well.

New red foot need help with enclosure

The temp and humidity gauges should be at tortoise shell height. And the analog disc type are inaccurate. You want the heat to be 80-84°, 90° is to hot.
