Why do torts decide one day, "I know, I think I'll scary the life out of my owner!!" lol

Had a proper upsetting scare yesterday, Fred, my new addition decided to hide in a new place so that when it came to me getting them for soaking, I couldn't find the little buger!! I turned the enclosure pretty much, inside out, upside down and couldn't find him anywhere and was starting think he had escaped which then put other thoughts in my head like, oh no, the other 2 will find the escape route and get out once I put them back in and that he was alone in the big world with nasty animals! After 40mins, I finally found him behind the rock house stirring wondering what all the commotion was lol should have seen the state of me after lol but on the upside, I discovered that they have a baby lizard living with them ;) nw named Jeffrey lol

Torts, who'd ave em!! ;) lol

It doesn't get any better 40 years down the line :D

Hahaha I bet!! Lol how's you and joe?
He's motoring. It was 25C here yesterday and 28C forecast today. He is charging round the garden constantly as fast as his legs will carry him. It's quite funny really, because he really wants to be a sprinter when the weather's like this and his legs won't move fast enough.

I've had to remove a drain cover that he went all the way with yesterday and the watering can that was the object of his affections this morning.

I doubt he's eating enough for his activity level, but there's not much I can do about it!

It is so long ago I cannot remember... and unlike now we didn't weigh him. In those days you just left tortoises to get on with it!

You'll get a big 'it depends' on that one from everyone. It really does vary dramatically based on climate, diet, whether they were captive bred or wild caught...

As long as they aren't losing weight, don't worry... and even then only worry if it is persistent weight loss over a few weeks.
