Meet Dill, a 2019 Kinixys zombensis
This one is extra special to me, and I am proud to say that it hatched here at The Kinixys Cooperative
The morning of September 16th I got up early, fed the tortoises, and for some reason decided to check on the Zom eggs. I incubate them buried in a few inches of substrate, and to my surprise (dang I should have taken a picture) a Kinixys zombensis front leg was sticking up out of the soil!
This guy has two weeks and some new growth under its belt and is thriving here thus far.
Hatching any Kinixys feels like a mini accomplishment.
223 days incubation. One viable egg. One hatchling!
A massive wave of gratitude goes out to the Kinixys and tortoise community as a whole. I could not be doing what I am doing without your support!
Enjoy!
