It's been 3 months since my tort's had a horrendous vet experience, so here's an update.
I've bumped up the temps in his enclosure to 28C, a bit warmer than the recomended 27C ambient temp max.
He's a zombensis hingeback, about 1 year old.
He does have a slight temp decrease in certain spots, so he can regulate as pleased.
I've been raising the temps to fight off a presumed RI.
But it's been more than 2 weeks, and it's starting to die down, atleast what I can see, it's still worrisome sometimes, being a little bit worse or better.
The symptoms are that he extends his neck and his front legs, and he does what almost looks like a long cough. When he gets panicked, like when soaking sometimes, he'll open his jaws wide for a few moments, indicating discomfort.
I've wondered if he is choking to some degree, but I doubt it. Perhaps something could be stuck there, but I'm trying to not over complicate it. If he was chocking, it wouldn't last this long right?
Anyway what worries me is that he hasn't pooped in 3 months. After the vet visit he had a baytril injection, which burned and he pooped a lot. I'm not sure if he has a problem like there's no gut flora left or something, but I'm worried. His eating tempo has increased slowly, and he's eating a lot more than usual, for a while now. He's also much much more active, so it's a bit of a weird situation. He's also had more than a dozen hour long soaks, and he's soaked regularly. His tail seems fat and a bit extended, so I'm wondering if he's close to pooping?
(Vets in SA can't help when it comes to torts, mentioning ceftazadime makes them think your speaking another language)
Sorry for the long post, any help is appreciated
