5.5” dome with 80 watt powersun bulb (look)

Is this weird? Why is my new bulb not working right it wont turn on when plugged in sometimes and I just purchased it yesterday. It also has a weird smell when it’s on like burning. Is this normal on the new bulb?

Also, the bright light is bothering my eyes. So I attached an extra fixture ontop to cover holes. Is this safe?

Some of these bulbs require a few minutes to warm up & “turn on”. Test your circuit with a redular household bulb. If the circuit is all good, replace with your new bulb, switch on. Give it time to warm up. Don5 switch it on & off, on & off. Not good for the bulb. (I think this is all explained in the directions that come with the bulb). If it gets tooo hot, the bulb will automatically turn off as well.

I wouldnt cover up the hood!

When you turn it off it won't come back on for about 15 minutes. All MVB's are like this.
