And tonight, with a little luck and a lot of patience, the first (known) USA born Testudo hermanni hermanni from Sicily, Italy (The Madonie) is born, right here. Just look at her, showing the classic bright head markings typically associated with Italian island tortoises. A photo of the head of one of our adults is also included. You can really tell what locality this baby belongs to. Not always this easy. Feeling very accomplished right now.
