I'd like to get my sliders a stock tank for the winter months when they can't outdoors, but totally stuck on what I should provide them for basking!
Could I soak a log, like a big part of a tree, to get it saturated and let the tannins get out before I put it in, and just stick it in there? I need something BIG and study and easy to grip. What do you guys use?
Thanks! :D

If you float the log and they seem to have a problem getting onto it, then some how, weight one end down, so it's in the water and on a slant and they will be able to climb up from that end easily

I was thinking about soaking it separately for a bit so that it doesn't want to float :D

My log (hehe) was big, around 25 pounds so it didn't float. Drift wood seems like a good option, but doesn't it float something fierce? prob. have to get a big piece.

Alrighty, speaking of stock tanks, do you guys use anything as substrate? I really want to plant something (I'm thinking furry plants like camboda, because I heard turtles don't like it  ) and so would need something to anchor it down with. :(

Where do you buy that from? I'm seeing 'decomposed' granite on HD's website, but that sounds... 'decomposed'

Thats the stuff . Its small rocks . I pump my pond out and spray the rocks then pump out again then refill . I'm getting a uv filter from home depot its 130 .00 $ bucks should keep the water from turning green . I have a biological filter now . I have been having trouble keeping the water clear .

Okay! Looked it up, sounds much like sand, does it get stuck at all?
