Hi, I’m a newish hermanns owner, yesterday (around 15 hours ago) he ate I believe just one dead fallen foxglove flower. I have looked up and I believe these are poisonous to tortoise. He is eating well still and seems to be fine would I know by now if he had been poisoned by the flower? Thanks in advance.

Are you sure that it is actually Foxglove and not something else? Foxglove is definitely toxic, although a very small amount like a single flower might not be enough to cause lasting harm.

Comfrey can look very similar to wild Foxglove. And while it's not a healthy plant and can definitely cause problems if eaten in large amounts, a single flower shouldn't be enough to be harmful.

Thank you so much for the reply, I am 99.9% sure it’s a foxglove I really wish it wasn’t but I’m sure it was. I believe it was just one fallen flower that he ate and he doesn’t seem any different he’s still eating well, no sickness and he’s poos are still normal. I really hope it was a small enough amount not to harm him.

If you do notice any unusual behavior at all, contact a vet that specializes in reptiles, and specifically in tortoises if possible.

It might not be a bad idea to do that anyway. I'm not an expert and just sharing what little I know as well as the listings for those plants on The Tortoise Table web site.
