age ?

Hey everybody, I was curious of there is an easy way to tell or estimate possible age of a desert tortoise.

Im guessing around 6 months to a year. He/she is about 3-4 inches long and 2 1/2 or so inches wide. Although i love tortoises, Im a little green with some of the things with them. Ive only had known hatch dates of prior tors, but this one is a wild dt, that i have no idea when he/she was hatched.

How did you come across a wild dt?

he/she was found near some outskirts houses with two punctures (assuming from some kind of canine attack, ie, coyote or even a domestic canine). anyway, he/she was brought into my emergency animal clinic as the people didnt know what to do with him/her. ive always wanted a dt, just never got around to adopting one from my local herp society, so i snagged this one up. he/she is still very young and small, still a baby.

since az native dt's are now in two subspecies groups, im assuming mine is g. agassizii
