Wondering how "CLOSED" my chamber needs to be here in south Alabama? Was thinking of putting Turbos chamber in the garage and leaving the lid up.The lid is only a 6"x5' part of the 2'x5' chamber. That way the chamber wouldnt hold so much heat in the garage . Average humidity is 75.45%..Right now its 92° and 65% humidity

In most homes with A/C and heating, the air is pretty dry, even in Southern States when its very humid outside. Every enclosure and situation is different, and adjustments must be made according to each individual situation. If your humidity is running too high then open the lid and let it dry out some. If it gets too dry, close the lid some and keep making little adjustments until you get it to stabilize where you want it.

Be careful with the garage. Mine has hit 100+ F a number of times, even when the temperature outside is only in the 90s F. (Fine for basking, but too high for ambient.)

I actually keep my tortoise in the garage at night, but he's in his outdoor garden during the heat of the day. If he does have to be inside during high temperatures, I've found a good soaking of the substrate in the morning can reliably keep his enclosure temperature in the high 80s F or low 90s F. (Which still might be a little too high for ambient temperature, depending on the tortoise.)

That said, humidity is great in the garage even when it's a bit dry outside. (Obviously, keeping the enclosure substrate hydrated contributes to this.)

I'd suggest monitoring during a few high temperature before moving a tortoise out there.

Ill keep him in his indoor chamber for now in the house, then when hes big enough to stay outside durring the day ill move it in garage to sleep in at night..How long do you think I need to wait to let him stay out during the day? He is about 2mths old now. I work 12 hr shifts so im gone from 4:30 am to 7pm...hr drive to work..
