Suddenly having a humidity issue

I'm having a hard time keeping the 80% humidity all the sudden. The chamber is warm and it's wet but I'm getting readings of 79-81% and up until today it's always 83-99% depending on temps and if I recently spritzed the chamber.
Now, even after a spritz, the humidity keeps dropping. The only difference is the temp outside and inside my house. It's cold here in south Texas. It's like 43, cold, windy and wet.
My chamber is in my kitchen on the floor under a large window, where it's always been. ImageUploadedByTortForum1385247203.940349.jpg
What can/should I do? Do I need more heat to get the humidity up?

Near the hot spot (mvb). Corners on this end are around 89F

Other end of the chamber under the CHE. Corners on this end of the tank are around 86F
The chamber is plenty "wet". And evidence of humidity on the plexiglass.

What gives? What do I do?

The heaters we all use to warm our homes also dry the air out. Warm dry air being moved around the house tries to equalize with whatever humid air it finds.

Boiling water on the stove and going to get a new filter for the cool mist humidifier after dinner. The humidity was 38% in the room where he chamber is.
The humidity has increased by 5% since starting the boiling water. Going to place the gage near the chamber for more accurate readings.

IMO if your humidity is 76% that is still ok.

Sometimes, my humidity can drop into the high 70s during the day then spike back up into the 90s that same night. The conditions in your house will affect the chamber to some degree.

That 43% humidity reading, is that inside the chamber? Or outside the chamber?

That's right smack in the middle of my kitchen. The pictures in the first post are my inside chamber measurements.

This is the temp and humidity in the part of the room where the chamber is.

I think your fine.

I never measure the humidity in my living space. Just the tort's ;)

You'll notice your numbers fluctuate through the seasons. Not drastically, but some.

This just came to me. How well does your plexiglass top sit on the tote? Is it flush or is there a small gap? If you have a gap, could you line the tote rim with weather stripping? Then it would seal nicely when the plexi top is on.

Well the boiling water and the humidifier near the chamber has helped a lot. The humidity is 94% and the temp is 85F with the CHE and black light on.

The plexiglas top sits on the tote well but I have considered weather stripping to make it slide around less easily and be a better seal.
