Hello!
a couple months ago the people on this website were very helpful in a) identifying that Stan is a Hermanni tortoise and b) that he was pyramiding and showing signs of MBD.
This is an update to say we’ve changed his diet, bought a new UV lamp, let him roam outdoors far more during the hot weather, give him more regular soaks and try to keep him in his tank more. We’re going to make him an outdoor enclosure for summer too, but can’t get the materials at the moment.
Thanks to everyone’s advice I’ve also noticed that he’s been more active and curious, as well as walking healthier (!). Before he kinda dragged a leg behind him, kept his plastron low to the ground, now he zooms around with it more off the ground, especially in the warm weather we’ve been having
Here’s a couple update photos of the little dude! No further negative shell action has occurred and I’m hoping it stays that way.
Thanks again for everyone’s help!
