Anal Scute Shape

Does the shape of the anal scutes have any thing to do with possible sex?
I am looking at a few photos of Hermanns bottoms and told I can pick 2 out seeing as they are too far to travel to.

I know its difficult to sex some species but wondered if these subtle differences were significant or not?

I think they are a couple of months old.

Yes, the shape of the anal scutes can show differences in gender.

However, with a tortoise that young, the best that you can hope for is an educated guess. It is impossible to tell 100% what the sex is at that age. Post pictures, and we can give it a shot.

I'm sure Danny can tell you in more detail as he figured it out. The anal and femoral scute edge shape-there is a subtle difference, the girls to me now look to be more angular and the boys more rounded (I only see that after Danny's observations)

Apparently the 1st picture is the unusual scute which according to Danny's sexing would make it a male.
Now not sure what to do as I hoped I might get a female from an unusual scute pattern.(but I know this isn't always the case)

Decisions decisions?

MMMMmmmm I like the unique one but would like females too.
