Zahara, AKA "Snack Bite" is now a year and a half old ;)

Here she was the day I got her - the size of a quarter and all of 7 grams.

And yesterday. She didn't want to hold still for her pictures!

I attempted to raise her without misting, and just have a humid hide for her, and it didn't really work. As a result she is a bit bumpy, but I still think she is gorgeous.

And actually, I am sort of questioning whether she really is a "she." Opinions, anyone?

LOL, it is "snack," not "snake." My husband called her that because when she was a baby I carried her to work with me in a Gladware snack size container so that I could hand feed her ;)

So cute! What kind of Greek is she? I'll admit to not knowing a whole lot about them but she is the darkest I've seen.

She is Jordanian/Antakyan cross. I love her dark coloring, one of the reasons that I wanted that particular mix of subspecies ;)

So pretty! Love the coloring as well. Where'd you get Snacky from? :)

Nice looking little one. She is looking a lot like a he. Still a bit early to tell, but the tail is looking long with the cloaca quite low. Well done with her/him!!

Thanks :) "She" is looking more male as time goes on, so, I am going to have to resign myself to the fact. It is going to be hard, I have called her "her" for so long!

107 grams, last time I weighed her a few days ago. Doesn't seem like much, but considering she started out 7 grams, she has grown a LOT!

How much does she gain a week?
Sorry for all the questions. I've only had Indie for 6 months and she seems to be larger then your tort. Im trying to figure out if maybe I feed her too much.

Every tortoise is different. They all grow at different rates, even clutchmates. I am sure you are feeding her just fine.

I don't track her weight weekly, so I simply don't know.

Wow Kristina "he" looks great ;) lol
Very pretty markings..
I find it very interesting that even with a humid enclosure and hide that he still is a little pyramided
To include in that a post I saw on one of Tom's threads about how to raise sulcata hatchlings and one person posted a picture of a VERY smooth baby that was raise pretty dry but misted everyday..
Can I ask you whether or not you soaked him everyday?

No, I did not. I was told by the breeder that a humid sleeping area was all that was needed - as you can see, this was not the case.

I have found that soaking doesn't do much to prevent pyramiding..
I don't soak my tortoises anymore because they have constant water sources and I feel it doesn't do anything for them.
I keep them in very high humidity and mist them A LOT A LOT A LOT and my sulcatas have been growing very , very smooth. Along with all the others
I see lots of tortoises on this forum of all different species that were only just soaked everyday to keep them hydrated and still pyramided.

I do soak my Sulcatas and my Star (sometimes on the Star, once or twice a week, Sulcatas daily.) I mist them also, but when soaking I make sure to splash some of the water over their shells as well.
