This thing is really big. I'm not a flower kinda gal at all. But since we have tortie now, I'm starting to look at ALL plants as potential food for DonaTello.

Its calla lily - Zantedeschia Aethiopica

The rhizomes are edible, although the plant is reportedly toxic

My wife loves those. Plants them everywhere. I've always read they were toxic too.

I just learned from my friend who just came back from South Africa, that calla lilies grow wild in that country. And the tortoises there eat them.

I believe that the rhizome is the tubular root, or maybe the offshoots of the root. I've been eyeing those this spring...
