How does everyone keep ants from invading tort pens? Do you worry about it or am I being silly? I put Boulder in my front entry way everyday and block it with bricks, he is there at least 4 hours a day. It is ideal until we build a permanent outdoor pen in the back yard. He is only out there when I am home. This am I thought well I will give him one bite of fruit, he has never had any before, when I went to check if he was eating it, he was away from his dish and red ants were all over the fruit! I threw it out of the pen to try to get them to leave. So I was wondering what do you all do for bug control if anything?

I have had a few cruise thru my baby pen, but none stay. Plus I don't feed anything to them that the ants are interested in, so that is a big help. I have heard that they won't cross chalk, you could draw a chalk circle around his pen and maybe that could help, baby powder too for that matter, just don't let Boulder get into it. We have big giant ants at school that always seem to bite a kiddo or 2. Good luck, they are a pain!

I's used diatomaceous earth before I'd use chalk or baby powder. Water with a few drops of peppermint oil, sprayed around the perimeter might help as well.
