Looking for an Indian Star hatchling, preferrably 2-3 months old. Thanks.
This comes up regularly. We just talked about this here. Its worth a read through for you: https://tortoiseforum.org/threads/getting-indian-star-tortoise-any-tips.215904/#post-2126148Thanks! I actually need a regular Indian Star. They are the smallest of the stars and I live in NYC. Not much space for bigger tortoises.

Burmese stars make much better pets, and the males really don't get all that much bigger than Indians.
Whichever way you go, read through both of these. Most of the care info out in the world is just plain wrong. These threads can make the difference between success and failure:

I chose the title of this care sheet very carefully. Are there other ways to raise babies? Yes. Yes there are, but those ways are not as good. If you still want an Indian, check with @G-stars or @Rodriguez Chelonians here on this forum or on FB for a healthy, properly started tortoise that will actually survive. Many of the ones purchased at shows or pet shops don't.

Chris and Amber are awesome people and start their babies the same or better than me. Hopefully, they will have something for you.Just spoke to G Star too but unfortunately he only has Sri Lankan.
Trying to get one here from someone reputable vs pet stores where they could be sickly or not even captive bred. If I don't find one here I'll try morphmarket. If I lived where you are, I'd have the courage to get the most beautiful tortoise, a Radiated tortoise. Unfortunately NY is too cold and they are too big to be kept indoors, wouldn't be right either. Thanks for the advice, and I intend to follow your guide closely.Chris and Amber are awesome people and start their babies the same or better than me. Hopefully, they will have something for you.
Good luck, and please post pics when the time comes. I too think the Indians are gorgeous. Lucky for me, I do have the space, and my adults can all live outside year round. I like the personality of the Burms better.
Thank you and will keep updated. This community is great, so many caring members. I'm not in too much of a hurry so I can wait a bit for the right one. There's a heat wave going on here in the states anyway, not good conditions to ship tortoises anyway.Good luck and keep us updated!
Most pet stores aren't going to have a high end tortoise like an Indian Star. Its certainly not impossible, but its very unlikely.Trying to get one here from someone reputable vs pet stores where they could be sickly or not even captive bred. I bought that one from someone on morphmarket, unfortunately I had to return her as she kept pooping that mucus type goo for 2 weeks straight. It didn't seem normal to me and I'm positive it wasn't me who caused it cuz she pooped it 2 hours after I got her and every day after that. She refused to eat anything but lettuce alone because she was fed on a lettuce, strawberry and banana diet by the seller. Most pet stores aren't going to have a high end tortoise like an Indian Star. One of the top breeders of Radiata in the entire country lives in upstate NY. I've been to his place. He's a fantastic human being and his facility is excellent. He was/is a student of "The Godfather" himself.
I thought you might like to know these details.
Congratulations on the new baby! Post pics. Do a thread. Did you buy from Tortoisesupply? They are excellent people too!
