Are any wild plants harmful for outdoor enclosures?

Making an outdoor enclosure for the summer and was wondering if any of the wild plants in my backyard might be toxic if my tortoise eats them, specifically bird of paradise flowers. I live in southern California, near San Diego. Any other tips for outdoor enclosures would be welcome. Thanks?

there are plants that are prolific but not necessarily native. Morning glory, Mandeville vines, azalea, foxglove, delphium, all frequent in the area but not necessarily native

Yes. There are lots of toxic plants. Many of the commonly used decorative plants are toxic. Gardenias, azaleas, jasmine, oleander, this list is endless. You need to identify each and every plant in the yard and then verify that it is non-toxic. A local nursery can usually be of great help with this. If you bring in samples they can usually tell you what you've got. Use Latin names. Common names will cause much confusion.

This won't be quick or easy. It will take some effort and diligence on your part.
