Are red foots diggers?

I was planning to get started on my enclosure this week. Do I need to sink the sides several inches down? I only want to do this once, and I'd like to do it right. I found one plan using landscaping timbers,like railroad ties. Should I get out my shovel? Jennifer

Nope, only to nest and maybe to snuggle into their substrate. I would put it at least an inch or so though just because.
At least mine don't dig

I would sink the walls a couple inches. They are not diggers but they do like to scratch out pallets in shady corners and could remove dirt over time to get out. Sinking a little frustrates this.

Would also be wise to sink it down, not because of the RF, but to perhaps prevent something from outside the cage digging into the pen when going after the torts.
