hi,
I recently put aspen bedding in Tanker cage. He loves it completely buries himself. I'm just a little worried about the dust and small particles that are all over him. is that bad for his eyes, lungs etc.?

high dust and particle substrates can cause issues with the eye and nose....so can other substrates, this is not a substrate I would readily use....IMO that is.....others will also be along to give you their opinions as well....

I think a lot of people use Aspen in their med torts' enclosures. I use it in the hide areas for mine. They love it and burrow right in. It does not get moldy like Timothy Hay. The pieces are more obvious than other substrates, so you can see them more readily, but they are not going to hurt or bother them. Mine often come to their basking area with a little pile of aspen on their backs, lol. I do like cypress mulch or coir or topsoil in the other areas (esp basking area) so more moisture can be added.
