If you didn't know, I have 2 Russian tortoises. At the point that I got them, it was a good idea and I do not regret it. However, recently some things have changed (unexpectedly) and I'm working 70 hours a week, plus school... I'm just not sure I am the best option for them anymore. Can I get some feedback on the selling process and all that it would entitle? I got them from a petsmart so I wouldn't be able to offer that much background information, and I did look around the "Wanted" forum, but no one is looking for a tortoise around the area that I live.

Hi Elisabeth:

I went back and re-read all your previous posts and you don't say where you are. I'm sure there are some members who live near you, but we need to know where that is. For example, if you lived near Jacqui, in Nebraska, I'll bet she'd be willing to take the tortoises. And if you lived near me, here in Central California, I would take them in a heart beat. Also, shipping is pretty easy and we've shipped tortoises all over the U.S. The buyer would pay the shipping.

The selling process here on the Forum is quite easy. You make a post in the "For Sale" section showing pictures of the tortoises, and tell us how much you want for them, and how we can contact you to talk about buying them from you.

If you just want to find a good home, and not ask any money for them, then you would choose the "Adoption" section to make your post.

Where do you live. I would be interested in a female. Just never posted anything in the wanted section.

I too live in Nebraska. Also, I'm not even sure what kind of price is a reasonable one?

before you sell them or adopt them may I ask why you think you don't or can't have them anymore? Just because you work out a lot doesn't mean you're not taking good care of them. If they've got shelter, correct temperatures, & space they're probably pretty happy tortoises, just my thoughts.

I agree with dmmj. Tortoises are not like dogs that want and need your attention. Tortoises are just the opposite, as long as they have food, water, correct temps and humidity and proper size enclosure, they are happy. Timers can be used to turn lights off and on if your hours don't allow you to do it and thermostats can be used to ensure proper temps. Something to think about

I'd be interested in taking them off your hands if you live in the area.
