Bananas, tomatoes

i am new to the world of tortoise owning.

Can any one shed light on diet, so many sites give so much conflicting information. And tortoise owners they all say different things.

I have a Russian tortoise living with me, he has been with me for 3 weeks now and i have read everything I can about all aspects of welfare to give him a healthy life but Bananas and tomatoes do I or dont I give these it's doing my head in.

My tort is said to be 2 years old? And a boy not sure how true this is he weighs 272g and his shell is the size of the palm of my hand.

i'd follow the advice and care sheets from this forum. theres so much conflicting advise out there its hard to know what is right or wrong. alot is old info that has been proven to be inaccurate, i don't give mine any fruit. as a treat a bit of squash or cactus pad goes down well.
