What sort of thing do you guys use to wash your torts?
I was thinking like an old washing up bowl or something?
Also does the water have to be Luke warm, hot or cold?

Most just soak their tortoises for hydration in warm water for 20-30 minutes. If you actually want to wash him, use a soft brush and warm water and lightly brush over the dirt.

I read that you should give a tortoise ( Russian/ horsefield) a lukewarm bath that is up to the bottom of their shell 2-3 times a week hope this helps

I've seen that some people use their bath tubs but because of disease spreading and excreting I don't want to, could I use an old washing up bowl?

I use dish washing tubs from Walmart. Is this what you mean by "washing up bowl"? Any water holding vessel will do. Make sure there is no soap or residue of any kind and it should have tall opaque sides so they can't see or climb out.

I use 90 degree water.

We have members literally all over the world.

Yes Walmart is a large chain of department stores.

Warm water.. a wash tub with high enough sides he cant climb out.. room to move around, and only about 1/2 inchdeep.. don't let it get too cold.

RE: First time bathe

Warm water and keep it warm. Do not let him get cold.

Oh, and for 20-30 minutes.

Also, how old/big is he? Hatchling to approx 1 1/2 years every day is best. Then every other day until about 8 inches or so, then about twice a week.

RE: First time bathe

Okay, once or twice a week is enough as long as water is always available. The soaking temps and length are the same as stated above. Happy bathing:D

RE: First time bathe

I'd change the water and give him a bit more time in the bath.

Is the tub suitable and sounds silly but do you have to dry them etc after?

RE: First time bathe

If you keep him inside or outside and it isn't super hot I would.

RE: First time bathe

I'd dry him a bit. The tub seems fine, he can't get out of it which is good. CLean it out with some warm water an dstore it for the next bath. :)

RE: Too much water?

When I soak my russians I fill water up to the side of the shell where the top and bottom shells meet, this way they can easily keep their head out of the water but can still submerge their head to drink.
