So the weather is warm here. Near 80 today. Thought I show how much and how quickly 3 sulcatas can down some food. Mind you they've already been grazing all day and have free access to a flake of bermuda grass hay. This was a compressed grocery bag full of mostly grass and some weeds. They've been eating like this every day for a couple of weeks now. Cory, A.K.A Spikethebest, helped me keep them off the food long enough to get the camera out. Elapsed time is about 22 minutes. They went back to grazing when the tray was emptied. They came back for the crumbs within minutes after the last photo.

Nice shirt, Cory!

I want to know how he "helped," keeping them from the hay while Tom got the camera...that may have been worthy of a photo or even a video I think! ;)

You know Tom, since you are in the film industry and probably have good video cameras and know how to use them, I would personally cherish an actual video, with sound, of Sulcata doing "tortaly things" (as Maggie or Yvonne said). I've seen the videos of the soccer playing Sulcatas and the Aldabrans (?) on the Tortoise Trust, but there just aren't enough videos around of Sulcata tortoises in action! I promise I will be totally appreciative and complimentary if some Tortoise Shorts ever come to pass...:D

Pleeeeeeease?

Well now I'm jealous! How come Cory got to "take the tour?" I want to come too.

Good lord! I can barely post pics. I'm an animal trainer not a camera operator. I make the dog sit-stay while a highly paid, skilled team operates the camera. They don't even want you to look at their equipment, much less touch it. The only video camera I have is the little video function on my regular camera. I'll do some video and give it a try tomorrow. Flickr allows me to download 2 videos a month, so I'll try a high resolution and a low resolution and see if I can make it work. All mine do is walk around and eat. Oh, they hump a lot too. Can we post that sort of thing here. Its really funny. Scooter does his thing, eyes all glazed over, while Delores goes around foraging for weeds under his weight.

I would love it if you came to visit. My wife knows all about you and Maggie. Either or both of you are always welcome. You pass right by me on your way into L.A. I'll give you a personal escort from the freeway in.

Two males and a female. I occasionally put the boys back together for pics or turn them loose on the 5 acre ranch together. They don't fight too bad, but I won't leave them unsupervised together anymore.

The smallest one is female and she's 9 and a half. The two boys were hatched mid '98 and grew up together. They have separate pens and sleeping quarters now.

I posted somewhere on another thread, that any of the regular posters here are welcome to come out and see the animals. I'd love to meet all of you. I'm a little leery of strangers coming around, but you guys are like family.
