Sprinklers help a lot. Most of the day the big guys that have the huge outdoor pens stay tucked in most of the day. At around 6:15 A.M they're out grazing and go back into heat retreat around 8:30-9:00ish. Then around 4:30ish when the sun is blocked by the forest to the west I turn the sprinklers on. That's when they all come out again to graze and hang out. Well this is mostly only for the Burmese stars, leopards, Aldabras, and sulcatas. The California deserts come out whenever they want. They're anti heat machines and tend to be caught out grazing at all hours during the day.
Anyways. Here's the afternoon operation. They're quite use to it now and love it. Sucking water beads from the grass and inhaling the great food of weeds.
Then of course the chunky butts move around the half hides cut from a 150 gallon planter. They're like kids. Always moving there toys around in the wrong spot.
