One interesting behavior I witnessed is cool. Torts tend to hiss out their nose when they are scared or unhappy. When I give my friend a shell rub I can see he is enjoying it. Head and neck out. Relaxed heavy eyes. Plus lifts his right leg up. When I stop he puffs a little air. I take it as his way to express don’t stop. Lol.

You can take it that way but thats not likely what he's doing.
I think a lot of the appeal of tortoise keeping are the things that we see them do and how we perceive it.
They can entertain us without wanting to do so.

Very true. I just don't want people thinking they are like dogs. Tortoises/reptiles do what they do just because.
Dogs do what they do to please us, they want something or they are just doing it because.
All animals are entertaining and most are just doing it because.
If that makes sense lol
