Chuy weighs in at 21lbs, I have been told he is anywhere from 2-20 that's quite a spread. Anyone care to help narrow it down?
I have no idea how to measure a tortoise; I gathered length, width and diameter.
Weighs 21lbs
Width is 20"
Length is 19.5-20"
Diameter is 32"

It's always so hard to guess. If he was started out and raised wrong, he would be small for his age. If everything was done right, he could be the right size for his age or even larger.
Ones guesses would be just that, a guess, no accuracy.

I agree with @wellington if he was poorly cared for he could be much smaller than he should be like my RT Felix. But if he was properly cared for he's probably quite young (I would GUESS that he is around 4-5 years old which would weigh in at around his current weight of 21 lbs)

Looking at the growth rings, there were three or four pretty large growth spurts. You can assume he's about three years.

Thank you all! As for proper measurement he is 14.5 inches from the middle of the gular plastron to mid anal plastron and 16.25 inches from highest point of gular to highest point anal plastron.
* I did not place him on his back, rather had him lifted and measured from beneath for anyone concerned *

Mine was 6 years old at 52 lbs per his last vet appointment. When I got him... when he was just turning 5 years old and he was about 40 lbs per his previous owner. His previous owner said he was around 28 lbs when he was 3. So look everyone has been mentioning... it's pretty difficult to tell.
His vet stated he could be anywhere between 5-10 for his weight and size at 52 lbs. (I only know his actual age because his previous humans got him as a hatchling)

What a good looking "little" guy. How do you keep his shell so shiny?
Sammy lives in the house, but he has access to the back yard. He has not show any signs of digging yet. So he don't play in the dirt much, he will get under the plants for shade. He does like to take walks around the neighborhood. I only clean him with water, don't put anything else on him. In the house, in his hide I have Cypress munch.

He's not real weathered and the darkness of new growth has not faded to tan yet. There are many variables, but I would also guess this guy to be around 3 or 4 years old. They can get to this size in less than 2 years if well hydrated and kept at the correct temps and fed well. If kept too cool in a basement in a frozen north state and not fed well, this tortoise could be 20 years old, or more.

The only time Tortimer shows signs of digging is when I'm misting him off on the grass under a shade tree on a hot day. Then he flips the grass and mud he makes onto himself. Other than that... nothing yet.

I'm going to take a guess that he's 4 to 5yrs. Old. My Sammy will be 5 and if you look at his picture, your can count his growth lines sections. There are 5. I count 4 to.5 on your tortoise.

I tried to show his growth lines by color. Just zoom in on the picture.
