Hi, my name is Kaidyn I am new to the forum, I just wanted to ask everybody if they knew how this could happen. I have an African leopard tortoise named Master oogway, and I just looked at his head and it looks like one of his scale on his head maybe peeled off , and there’s a little blood. I just don’t know how it could’ve happened, and I don’t know if there’s something I should do or if I’m overthinking it.

Hi Kaidyn - welcome!

It doesn't sound like you're over thinking it, as it could be an injury of some kind. Could you post some photos of your tort so we can see what you're seeing?

Probably nothing to worry about. Living rough like they do, they get into all kinds of mischief. He probably just scraped it against something. Treat it as you would treat a skinned knee on a kid.

Welcome!

A picture would help us to better understand what is going on. Do you have a dog or cat? Is this an indoor baby, or an outdoor housed adult?

Here is the correct care info for you:

He’s roughly the size of a football, he’s 2 and a half years old, he’s housed indoors because I live in central NY, there are cats here but hasn’t been near them in a while, and even when he is they just follow him around and smell him.

Looks like those scales got snagged on something. I'd would just dab some triple antibiotic on it and keep an eye on it. Don't get the ointment on the eye.

Take a look around the enclosure to see what may have done it. You can post enclosure pics here and we can look too. If you don't find anything obvious, I'd suspect the cat. If a cat were to swat at the tortoise that is exactly what a claw would do if it hooked on the edge of a scale.
