At what size (length/weight) does everyone that's breeding start to pair their leopards up? My girls both hit 10lbs this winter and I'm curious what everyone else starts at. I figure I probably have another two years to go but can't find much info on best suggested dimensions and weight for females to start breeding. I found one care sheet that said 12" and up but no mention of weight.

They will breed whenever the time is right, not at a certain weight or size really. Both my females are 12" and 14" and around 13 pounds. One is several years older than the youngest one which started breeding last year at 9 years old. I wasn't planning on breeding but I ended up with a male and two females and just let nature take its course. They have all been together for many years now and the younger female just started breeding, so put them together and see what happens.

And from what I've read the male will choose the largest female most of the time .

I think this may be true. My sulcata male(17inches) has only ever mounted the larger of my three sulcata females (18inches, 14 inches, 11inches). I have a smaller female that just reached 14 inches and I was afraid he might try mounting her if the big female wasn't in the mood. But he hasn't tried at all. He literally shows no interest in her whatsoever. I examine her shell often to see if there is any signs of him mounting her and there isn't. Her shell is still pristine. So apparently my male only loves his big girl. When she was 16inches my male was only 11inches mounting her. He actually fertilized her when he was 12 inches which is REALLY small to get the job done lol. So perhaps he's developed a taste for females larger than him. He is quickly catching up to her in size now, but I think he will stay on the small side compared to other male sulcatas. I'm finished rambling now lol

yes male leopards will preferably go for the biggest but it doesn't take long for her to have enough at which time he will go for the other. That's what our guy did.
