Here in central California it has gotten nice and warm, mid 70s, 50s at night. Should I get our two DT out of their boxes to soak and wake up?
Check your 10 day forecast. Does it look like the warm weather will hold? Do you have the means to control the temperature in the night shelter if the weather doesn't hold? Here in central California it has gotten nice and warm, mid 70s, 50s at night. We're having the same issues in the UK and I am still aiming to get Jacky out in March.Check your 10 day forecast. Does it look like the warm weather will hold? Do you have the means to control the temperature in the night shelter if the weather doesn't hold?
I hunt in Bakersfield during falconry season, so I'm constantly watching the weather there. I hate that winter fog!!! My inclination would be to wait until March. Its warm for a few days right now, but cooling again after that and randomly over cast which prevents the tortoise from warming up during the day.
i know what you mean. It’s kinda like whew, no feeding when they go into brumation but I miss them!Same weather conditions here in Tucson moving into the first week of March, I started increasing my girl's temps in her frig last week to prep her for the move outside this weekend, but we have a night box she will go into that I can turn lights on to keep her warm if the weather changes.I am super excited to see her! She's been brumating for 15weeks so far! Miss her!
Also in Arizona Phoenix area and all 5 of my Russian tortoises woke up this week and came out of their hide out where they naturally hibernated all Winter outside in their enclosure. They were very hungry and also went into their shallow water dish to soak all on their own! They have weeds and lots of clover in their enclosure but I also gave them some romaine today for moisture!Same weather conditions here in Tucson moving into the first week of March, I started increasing my girl's temps in her frig last week to prep her for the move outside this weekend, but we have a night box she will go into that I can turn lights on to keep her warm if the weather changes.I am super excited to see her!
