hello everyone I was just replacing my tortoise water when I saw these really small yellow worm looking things I’m pretty sure they had little legs I’m not sure I got a video and I’m scared should there be bugs in there? I don’t want them to be maggots should I take my tortoise out? Should I get him checked? I saw a lot of them but they all ran but there is 2 or 3 still wiggling around where I found them. If someone could let me know if these are fine or not I would rely appreciate it :) I’m not sure how to upload videos so I’ve taken sceeenshots of them. I was trying to grab one with tweezer and they do jump!

Usually if they are maggots, there is a bunch of them, not just one.
Maggots come from flies, so if there isn't a bunch of flies around, another sign they aren't maggots.
I'm not sure what it is, but just take it out and let the area under the water dish dry up and clean up any food that might be mixed in substrate.

Should I do whole new substrate? I don’t mind cleaning out the whole thing if it’s the best thing to do. I didn’t think they looked much like maggots but I got a little worried

I wouldn’t worry too much tbh as they don’t look harmful but if you’re concerned you could do a deep clean😊
How’s he been getting on? Did you manage to make the enclosure tweaks?🥰
