I only got the one because he was found in a head of lettuce I bought to feed my tortoise. He fell out onto the floor and when I went to “throw out the rock” I noticed that it slithered away somewhere.
Realizing that he was a little snail that looked up at me and sniffed the air
(As if to say, “mom?”) I couldn’t just put him in the yard. He was just gonna be food for the first bird to see..
The rest is history…
I thought about getting him a friend but I don’t want to come home one day and find his head bitten off..
If you buy them in a pair or a group they get along just fine cuz they “know each other”
Sniff each other’s butts so to speak.
Gary was (I hate to say it but..)
A “one off”. He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time and got shipped in a case of lettuce to be sold to ShopRite.

To boot, I hadn’t cut the lettuces till the next day!!!!!
So he stayed in refrigerator ALL NIGHT!!!

If you get 2, likely, you'll have 200 in couple of months. If you miss them laying eggs it will be literally a "baby boom".

If I get too many, my box turtle will be happy. Just a joke but true. However snails can reproduce without a mate. So either way, he/she might as well have fun

I have Ink my leopard tortoise and Paxton my desert box turtle. I'm not getting them to feed Paxton. I just like them. I had guppies as pet fish. I thought I added another male. MY MISTAKE!! I did feed the babies to Paxton because there was about 50 overnight! Too many. I can manage the snail eggs, it called "clean them up." @OkAdiza I should have checked with you first.
I thought so too but sadly …no.
They cannot reproduce by themselves.
They have BOTH male and female parts, so they can pick and choose which
“parts they want to use” when mating but they cannot do it alone.

If they are already dead then I guess fine but to see some animal horrifically mutilated and painfully crying out for help and in complete agony is mind blowing for me. ANY ANIMAL.
Nature is nature and so be it..
But doing it intentionally???
