Since other tortoises can get RI from high humidity, are redfoot's anatomy of their respiratory track and lungs structured differently to handle high humidity?

Has anyone's RF got RI before because of humidity?

I'm asking because my humidity is high enough where if I run my finger through my RF's back, its moist. The humidity gage went pass 100%.

I use a reptifogger. Now I just turn off the fogger at night and open it when I had to class and turn it off around 5 PM.

The rule of thumb is:
Cold and Damp=Bad
Warm and Damp=Good

However, to ward off shell rot and other ailments, I would let the humidity drop for at least a few hours daily...Its not 100% humidity in the wild all of the time. Moderation I think is best. With other tropical animals, I have always been advised to let them "dry out", with a drop in humidity.

Yeah... at 100% humidity, the air cannot hold more water, so it condenses out. It also condenses when it hits a cooler surface. You may want to allow more fresh air or reduce the fog.

(Also make sure to monitor the temps because foggers and misters almost always cool the air- often by 10 degrees or more.)

Red-foots don't really need the entire habitat superhumidified- mostly just the sleeping area. The rest can be in the 50-80% range in general.

Yea it gets cold for a bit but I don't leave it on for too long.

When I head to class, I put it on the lowest and when I get home, I just turn it off for a bit. As long as I'm home, I just turn it on every once awhile.

I notice my humidity is actually higher than I thought. On average its 70. I used to have my humidity gage pretty close to the CHE, so it always reads 40-50% humidity. Now I know, the only place thats low on humidity is under the CHE.
