Hi I'm new here and also to the world of the tortoise, my question is can I keep 2 together?, I have read that many things on the Internet and my heads a mess, some say yes some say no. Please help, I would rather take advice from live threads than just things I can read online.
Thanks in advance.

Torts are known for their wanting to being alone, and are NOT at all sociable animals/pets. Therefore I'd suggest your separating them, so as to avoid bullying, that could begin any minute.

Please read the 'Beginners Thread' and the different care sheets, which will be of help; BUT you have to expect to receive conflicting info anywhere you go. So don't allow that irritate you.

How about posting some pics of your torts and their enclosure(s) so as to enable the experienced members here, help you more than I can.

And of course......a very warm welcome to the forum.

Hello, Mark and a very warm welcome to Tortoise Forum.
Russians are possibly about the scrappiest tortoise there is, so pairs is a very bad idea, I'm afraid.
Threes sometimes work, or groups if you have large areas for them, but even then there can be problems.
Look at http://www.tortoiseforum.org/threads/pairs.34837/
and http://www.tortoiseforum.org/thread...together-a-lesson-learned-the-hard-way.94114/
also http://www.tortoiseforum.org/threads/bad-day-for-baby.114328/
for lots of examples.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

To answer your question: Yes you can keep two together, but you shouldn't. It will usually result in chronic stress, illness, injury or death. Tortoises should not be housed in pairs. Russians especially should not be housed in pairs because of their scrappy, territorial nature. I recommend you separate them into their own enclosures and then read those links posted above.

Welcome. You will learn so much here. Glad you joined.
And about the Russians .... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! They are their own man and each needs his own man cave.
