Candy,

I think here is the order of the pics :p

The front of the property when I cleared it all down (due to horrible overall condition of the property, it was acquired back in 2004 and my son and I did not move in until 2006)...start of finding out what native veg will remain...

The way the water moves around here during the 6 day rain we had here I believe in 2010...you will see the hazards I had learn and now take into consideration when setting up outdoor tortoise yard space...while this is extreme due to the number of days of constant rain--it is a possibility again in future winters...and also shows why I no longer allow outdoor brumation here...all indoors.

The two temp 10x12x6 enclosures that were set up when the two newer men came to the house---it was not certain if they were going to be able to remain for good--so now I know that they are-- during their sleep this year their yards will undergo a major expansion to allow ALOT of space....some of their current yards will be the basis for their expansion due to their fav hide and burrows are in these areas....have been stocking up on materials so will be ready to go...

This is Humphs area/yard...it is directly off of the front porch area--it is essentially short fencing that intermingles between the rabbit bush and mallows that were the prominent natural shrubs that have come in---this is the same area as in the first pic....

The last one is the yard for Haus....he has the ideal size that each will have when I am done with the two redo's...his yard has a variety of areas....section with dense rabbit and mallow bushes, that is set up with the water sprayers, open space for walking and munching on the random mallows and a few chosen shade areas aside from the rabbit bush areas (this is pic from a few mins ago--this time of the year all has eventually been eaten down and dried up due to the long summer--which works out well because the guys have already began their pattern of no eating--or very random infrequent bites here and there) so actually all works out well.

Behind Haus yard is the rest of our property which is enclosed by another fence...there is a great deal of property to eventually work with......

As you can see, I don't do fancy, I don't do lots of turf which is not native here, but the desert does provide a lot of goodies that these guys do love...add water and you will be amazed at what pops up...
along with some of the seeds I have dropped ....

Wow they look to have some nice spaces. That rain must have freaked you out. The last picture is a lot of space so that's very nice for them. :) Houdini doesn't have that much space here although the space he does have is not bad. I kind of change up him and Fernando from yard to yard so they have different areas to explore. :D

Wow Angela. What beautiful country! Good thing I don't have all that space. I would become a tortoise hoarder.

Ahhh, when you describe your DT men, Angela, I always wonder how the heck you house all those guys. Now I get it. You have lots of tortoise friendly space. How fabulous for you and your guys. I can't wait to see what your brumation renovation entails!

Absolutely....you can not see it in the lake pic :)P) but there are two of my sons shoes that got left out...and each one were at different places and became my markers---as each one submerged and disappeared I got nervous...we actually had our BMW then and we were flooded in for about a week..the car just could not get down the mud bog to even get us out...luckily we were well stocked up and I had been laid off a bit before that time so I did not miss any work  and my son was not sad at all to be home from school--I think he secretly was doing a rain dance each time I turned my back...lol...

This is main reason we no longer have the car and now have our full sized ford bronco 4x to get in and out if needed...whewww..
