Was just thinking about how I want Franklin to breed so his genes get passed on. But I know I personally have no means to raise hatchlings, or a female tortoise for that fact. So I'm on here wondering if anyone's tortoise (Russian) would be interested in a stud like Franklin!? Of course he's not sexually mature yet, but I don't know how these things work, I'd let the owner of the female keep the hatchlings or do a half and half type thing, I just want my Franklin to have his genes carried on because he is a wonderful tortoise character-wise and he's beautiful too (just a little shell dent on the back from previous living places)

I forgot some key parts. Franklin is WC and from petco, no signs of illness since I got him and first vet visit soon. I live in MA and I'm not too fond of the concept if shipping since I feel he's had enough of that, I am willing to meet halfway if it's in reason (I could go as far as either PA or NY if you could get there) and he's still young this is just in case you need lots of planning time. I also ask if I can keep just 1 baby so I'll have father and son/daughter since I planned to get him a friend but this would be the best. You can PM me if interested

Is there anything special enough about his genes to pass on? I am not trying to be facetious, but breeding torts is not like breeding dogs. It generally takes multiple males and even more females and some time to get the best results.

He does not really need a friend, and it is not really a good idea to keep an adult and a baby tortoise together- the big one will unintentionally bully the little one.

Again, I am not trying to be a pain, just trying to help you think this through and find the best options for all involved.

They wouldnt live together I'd just put them together to munch on grass once the baby got big enough. And as for now it's just a thought, when I have my own place I'd figure out if I'd have the means to care for both, because obviously there will be no giving up Franklin because I knew the responsibility when I adopted him an will make sure he is always in good conditions. I would never bring a hatchling in if I knew I didn't have means. This is just a forethought in case people needed a long time to know/prepare
