So I ordered this ceramic heater from eBay and on the box it says it provides uvb. This can't be correct, can it? It looks like it was imported from China. It has Chinese characters on the box.

A cermaic heater does not provide UVB. It is a heat source... there is no light!
UVB comes from:
- the sun
- a Mercury Vapor Bulb (MVB)
- a tube UVB light
- a compact, coil type, bulb which should not be used with torts as they have been shown to cause significant eye problems

Ok, that's what I thought. I can't believe the box says it provides uvb.
Makes you wonder how safe it is as a heater though.
We have enough problems with wrong information on lighting and heating without things like this. If this were sold in the UK, I would be reporting it to Trading Standards.

On eBay, you have international sellers. I only choose USA sellers. There is a refine search setting allowing for this.

I may not be a great test subject. The tub stays at 85 without any help.

Exactly. Just needed something in there just in case. I'll be able to test it out during the winter I guess. Not a lot of insulation in that room but weather here is pretty mild.

That is pretty cheap. CHEs are usually 3-4 times that amount. I'm not sure I would trust it. Keep us posted on how it works. I'm just curious.
Happens to me more than it should. I go for the deal then end up spending more money. One day I'll learn my lesson. :-(

I'd set it up outside away from anything flammable if you have fire concerns in regard to safety.
