During the summer months I still need to use a couple of CHE's in my enclosure to keep night time temps above 80F.

My questions is should I use a dome or not. I have seen ppl mention that domes interfere with heat being able to spread out.

The dome I use is the deep or long type of dome. It has been working and heat is staying above 80 everywhere but I wonder if I remove the dome will they run better?

I don't like to use any of the pet store ones for CHEs. CHEs run very hot and I worry about the flimsy pet store ones. I prefer to use the Home Depot ones that come with the wide aluminum domes, ceramic bases, and long heavy duty cords. These have always been reliable for me and they can handle the heat and wattage with no problem.

I do think the domes direct the heat where you want it, but I like the wide domes, not the narrow, small or deep domes.

I second this and I use the same domes Tom uses from Home Depot.
